Multiple Campus Coordination Policy

Policy

UD currently operates from one campus (termed the main campus) located in Dubai’s Academic City. This campus houses various administrative and academic units.

UD can run various academic, professional programs or courses in different locations (termed satellite campuses) separately or concurrently with the main campus. Satellite campuses do not have to be fully-fledged campuses, and can also be hosted at other institutions. The decision to work from satellite campuses must meet strategic UD goals and ensure financial viability.

Courses or programs offered concurrently in satellite campuses must be the same as the ones offered in the main campus.

Administrative or academic coordinators may be appointed in satellite campuses, if needed, and they must report to their counterparts in the main campus. Satellite campus coordinators, faculty members and students must abide by the same policies, regulations and quality assurance practices of the main campus.

Satellite campuses must be sufficiently / appropriately furnished from the physical, human and technical aspects to ensure the delivery of quality education and learning outcomes of the offered courses/ programs, and to provide sufficient educational support to students. An adequate budget must be allocated to the operations of the satellite campus within the main campus budget. Satellite campus revenues are considered part of the main campus budget. Hiring of staff and faculty members goes through the main campus.

If the operations of the satellite campus increase significantly (i.e. >= 50% of the main campus), then a different arrangement can be made regarding the points mentioned above. (e.g. administrative staff hiring and operational budget, etc.)

Setting up of satellite campuses require the approval of the Board of the Trustees and the CAA.

Note: appropriate and not necessarily equal to main campus.
