Teach-Out Policy
Policy:
In the event that a program is canceled for any reason, UD will continue to offer sufficient courses at the appropriate levels in such a way that all students enrolled in the program will be able to finish their degree requirements in a timely manner. If prevailing conditions at the time dictate, the student will have the opportunity to transfer to:
-
Another degree program within UD, or
-
A new program which is intended to take the place of the canceled program within UD, or
-
Another institution of higher education (carrying the appropriate transcript of credit hours so far completed at UD).
The University will cease to admit new students into phased out programs.
The students of a phased-out program must adhere to the study plan prepared by the Program Director to complete the program requirements. A student who fails in a course that will be no longer offered, has the right to take it as an independent study or at another accredited program.
UD will maintain a close monitoring of all the programs of higher education in the UAE in order to be aware of transfer options to those institutions on a timely basis. UD will formally contact all such institutions periodically with the objective of signing memoranda of understanding to facilitate the transfer process should it ever be required.
Prior to programs being phased-out, the AAC and the BoT must first approve.
