Policy

A. Goal of Continuous Education and Lifelong Learning:

In a rapidly changing world, adaptation and growth are essential. Fields of study, theories, regulations, and industry standards are in a constant state of flux. The primary objective of continuous education and lifelong learning at the University of Dubai is to ensure that our employees have the means and motivation to stay at the forefront of their chosen fields. This ensures they can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve their career aspirations and remain current in areas that are subject to change.

B. Methods of Continuous Education and Lifelong Learning:

  1. Professional Development Programs: The University of Dubai is committed to support attendance to a variety of professional development opportunities. These programs may encompass workshops, seminars, webinars, and conferences, all aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of employees within their respective domains, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices.

  2. Educational Support: The university may offer educational support programs designed to assist in pursuing further education. These programs could include tuition reimbursement, scholarships, or other financial incentives to encourage enrollment in relevant courses, certifications, or degree programs.

  3. In-House Training: The University of Dubai acknowledges the value of in-house training and development. Collaborating with different departments, the university encourages organizing training sessions and workshops tailored to the specific needs of employees, students and alumni alike. These can include technology training, leadership development, awareness training or any other area that enhances their skills and knowledge.

  4. Online Learning Resources: The university provides access to online learning platforms and resources that empower students and employees to engage in self-directed learning. These platforms offer a wide range of courses and materials accessible to staff for their professional development.

  5. Mentoring and Coaching: The University of Dubai promotes a culture of mentorship and coaching. As an example, experienced staff members may be paired with less experienced colleagues to provide guidance, share knowledge, and support their professional development. Similarly returning students may serve as mentors to incoming students.

  6. Performance Assessment and Development Planning: Continuous learning is integrated into the performance assessment process. During regular performance reviews, employees and their supervisors collaborate to discuss professional development goals and create plans for achieving them.

  7. Collaborative Research and Opportunities: The university encourages students, staff and faculty to engage in research projects, publish academic papers, and participate in collaborative initiatives. This enriches knowledge and contributes to the university's academic reputation.
