EERF 600 Advanced RF and Microwave Engineering

This course discusses the behavior of waves on transmission lines using lumped element models, the impedance, admittance and scattering matrix descriptions of microwave junctions, and the generalized scattering matrix for power waves. A variety of passive components like coupled-microstrip-line directional couplers, the branch-line coupler, hybrid couplers, and the Wilkinson power divider, etc. are described. Periodic structures and filter designs are also included. RF and Microwave components fabrication and measurement process are also explained. New microwave technologies which experienced a tremendous growth over the last five decades like MEMS will also be discussed.
